Rick and Morty is an animated TV show created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. Its foundation is set in the Smith household. However, in each episode Rick takes his grandson Morty out of their domestic life on dangerous adventures throughout the universe in Rick’s ramshackle spaceship.

Morty lives with his mother, Beth; his father, Jerry; his teenage sister, Summer; and his grandfather, Rick. Rick Sanchez is a classic mad scientist type, sometimes hailed as the smartest man in the universe (admittedly, he is often the one to make this claim). Creator Roiland voices both Rick's dialogue, which is constantly interrupted by beer-induced belches, and Morty's stuttering whimper. The rest of the characters are voiced by various actors.
