Morty Smith is a 14 year old "quaking and pubescing" boy. He is extremely awkward, constantly stuttering as he asks Rick to just take him home in their rickety spaceship. His relationship with Rick is a prime example of the dichotomy of masculinity; Rick is the powerful and assertive "mook" and Morty is his delicate and nervous counterpart.
